Alpina Watches
Alpina can trace its history back to 1883 when Gottlieb Hauser founded the Alpina Swiss Watchmakers Corporation. It was originally set up as a cooperative organization where members could share ideas and knowledge but later converted to a company and the Alpina brand was born. Their logo is based on the mighty Matterhorn mountain, with its imposing triangular profile, which overlooks the Swiss town of Zermatt.
A true pioneer of the watchmaking industry, Alpina has been the source of numerous patents and innovative calibers over the years, and is widely recognised as the original producer of the sports watch. To be classified as such, Hauser insisted a watch have four essential characteristics - it must be antimagnetic, antishock, water resistant, and constructed in stainless steel. Based on this ethos the company introduced the legendary Alpina 4 in 1938, which set the bar for modern day sports watches.
Renowned for producing good, solid, robust and reliable watches, Alpina offers excellent quality in a relatively affordable price range.
