Omega Watches

Omega was founded by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1848. The company operated as La Generale Watch Co. until incorporating the name Omega in 1903, becoming Louis Brandt et Frère-Omega Watch & Co. In 1984 the company officially changed its name to Omega SA.

The brand is not only one of the most prominent in the world, it’s also historically significant. In 1918 Omega became the first official watch of the US Army. Then, on 21st July 1969, it was the very first watch to be worn on the Moon when Buzz Aldrin stepped onto the lunar surface with the instantly recognizable Speedmaster strapped to the outside of his spacesuit. The same model played a key role in bringing the three astronauts, on the infamous Apollo 13 mission, back to earth safely. The new Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional, which draws its design from the original model, continues to be flight-qualified by NASA for use on all of its crewed missions.

Omega has also served as the official timekeeper for over twenty Olympic Games and in 1995 the brand made it onto the big screen when Pierce Brosnan wore the Seamaster model in the role of James Bond, in the movie GoldenEye. The Omega and Bond relationship continues to this day.

Internationally acclaimed for their magnificent designs and masterful attention to detail, Omega watches have graced the wrists of plenty of other famous names including John F Kennedy, George Clooney, Elvis Presley, Ringo Starr, and Buddy Holly.

In March 2022, Omega collaborated with sibling company Swatch, both of which are owned by the Swatch Group, to release a budget version of its iconic Speedmaster Moonwatch surprising the entire industry and it became an instant hit all around the world.
